ESL/TESOL English as a second language (ESL) and Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL) is a broad category designed to provide helpful information for all things relating to foreign language learners. Being able to communicate well with others is often taken for granted. Verbal communication remains the single most important concept for the success of the human race. This category is not just for individuals learning English as another language, but for individuals that need or want to learn a language other than their native tongue. For most people and businesses it is relatively easy to communicate with others from the same country or geographical area. But have you tried to relay a message to someone that doesn’t speak your language? Is it frustrating and difficult? Having an open mind and trying to learn another language is one of the most important things you can do in an ever-changing global society. Today, more than ever before, the world is truly becoming a tightly networked community. It is becoming increasingly important to be able to not just communicate with your neighbor, but also with a business partner half-way around the world. Verbal communication is the engine that results in success for you, your business, and your associates. Furthermore, it is absolutely critical for our K-12 youth, where English is their second language, to have equal learning opportunities as children where English is the primary language. America desperately needs teachers in this critical shortage area, and this area of study will offer you the opportunity to make a difference! Did you know the English language is comprised of thousands of words taken from other languages? By knowing, teaching, and learning a foreign language, you will be broadening your own vocabulary and have a better understanding of the English language. No matter who you are or what you do, learning and teaching another language will be beneficial to you, and the world around you. |
